Why am I curious about sobriety?
What has sparked your interest in exploring a life without alcohol. Is it curiosity, health concerns, or do you feel your relationship with alcohol is negatively impacting your life and your goals?
What role does alcohol play in my life right now?
How frequently and in what situations do you feel the need to drink. Are there patterns that seem drinking has become a habit rather than choice? Are there certain people you tend to drink with? Has alcohol caused negative impact on your relationship, goals or aspirations.
How do I feel before, during, and after drinking?
Describe your emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations before, during and after you drink alcohol. Do you drink to relieve stress, boredom, or sadness? How do you feel afterward physically and mentally?
What are some activities I enjoy that don’t involve alcohol?
List hobbies or interests you can engage in without drinking. Imagine expanding your social life in these areas. What does your social life look like without alcohol?
What do I hope to gain from a period of sobriety?
Write about potential benefits you’re hoping for, like better sleep, mental clarity, or deeper connections with people.
How does drinking affect my relationships?
Reflect on whether alcohol influences your interactions, communication, or intimacy with friends, family, or a partner.
What are my biggest fears about giving up alcohol?
Identify any anxieties, such as missing out socially or feeling bored, and explore why these feel significant to you.
Who or what could support me on this journey?
Think about people, activities, or self-care practices that could help. Are there online communities, friends, or routines that could provide support?
How do I want to feel in a month, six months, or a year?
Visualize and describe your ideal physical, mental, and emotional state over time if you remove alcohol from your life.
What is one small, mindful step I could take today?
Whether it’s setting a boundary, reaching out for support, or planning an alcohol-free day, consider what positive action you could try right now.
